    Gingerbread Men Cookie Recipe

The holiday’s get me into the mood to bake up a storm in the kitchen! Nothing gets me into the Christmas spirit like making a fresh batch of gingerbread men cookies! I wanted to share my simple recipe! Enjoy, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

    •  ¾ cup brown sugar
    •  ¾ teaspoon baking soda
    •  1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    •  1 tablespoon ground ginger
    •  ½ teaspoon ground cloves
    •  ½ teaspoon salt
    •  12 tablespoons butter softened to room temperature (but not melted)
    •  ¾ cup molasses
    •  2 tablespoons milk

    INSTRUCTIONS:

Stir together the flour, brown sugar, soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt until combined, add the butter.Gradually add the molasses and milk; mix until the dough is evenly moistened & thoroughly combined.

It’s best to wrap dough in Saran Wrap and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.

    Heat oven to 350 degrees

After the dough has been refrigerated, depending on the size of your gingerbread men cookie cutter…roll out dough till it’s 1/4 inch thick and begin cutting out your gingerbread men. If dough is sticky or hard to work with lightly sprinkle flour and roll dough till it’s easier to work with.

Place on parchment or wax paper

    Bake for 8/10 minutes

    DECORATE & ENJOY!

Thankful and Grateful today and everyday!

I have to admit, sometimes I get so wrapped up on my stressful daily to-do list that I tend to forget just how blessed I am! I’m convinced that even on my most stressful day, week, month…there’s always something to be grateful for! I’ve been through plenty of “lesson learned”, “I’ll never do that again” situations’ but being the positive, cheerful person that I am…I always try to look for Gods message in my life trials! As Thanksgiving is approaching us…I really wanted to celebrate with gratitude! My life is full of ups and downs but in between all of the chaos I’ve had some beautiful moments and memories made! I’ve met some extraordinary souls and I’ve gotten to experience so many things in my life both good and bad, but I’m thankful for all of it. Especially, the setbacks because they are what have formed me into the person I am today! With my most sincere gratitude I have put together a list of all that I am thankful for and I hope this inspires you to reflect on your current situation in your life whether good or bad…make all your daily stress, drama, delays & worry seem so small and restore your faith…because you can change someone’s day into a great one and that’s true magic, love!!! Enjoy!!!

1.) I’m Grateful for: God and my Catholic Faith- no matter the highs or the lowest of lows, I’ve got to remain true to where my heart lies!

2.) I’m Grateful for: My Family- especially my parents who are so wonderful to me! I’m blessed beyond the heavens for my super encouraging & supportive parents! I love y’all sooooo much!!!

3.) I’m Grateful for: My Friends- I have an amazing group of encouraging and inspiring friends! Some I’ve known for years and some I met a few weeks ago! I love y’all, you make all the bumps and rough days easier to cope with!

4.) I’m Grateful for: My Fur Babies’- all 4 of my amazing pups! Thanks for endless love & kisses! Your wagging tails and welcome home greeting after a long day at work never go unnoticed! I love you CoCo, Bella, Oscar & Hägen,

5.) I’m Grateful for: My Health- sure I get sick sometimes, but if I get plenty of sleep, work out and eat healthy, my body functions amazingly! But overall I have very, very much to be thankful for that I often take for granted about my body and how it helps me to do everything – see, listen, walk, write, hug, kiss, think and experience my world – every day.

6.) I’m Grateful for: Having a place to call home- I’m extremely grateful about having a warm house to come home to!

7.) I’m Grateful for: My Freedom- the right to life, liberty, economic freedom, and the “Pursuit of happiness.”

8.) I’m Grateful for: My Education- so many countries don’t have access to proper education and I’m thankful for receiving the gift to read and write! Two things I enjoy doing sooo much!

9.) I’m Grateful for: Having my own Transportation- having a way to get from point A to point B and not have to worry about getting to work or running a simple errand is a gift!

10.) I’m Grateful for: My career- I get to work with sprinkles & amazing people all day! I enjoy being at Kelani Yogürt everyday watching it grow more and more year after year!

11.) I’m Grateful for: The ability to pay my bills- let’s face it all of us wish we could go back to being kids cause being an adult is expensive! Lol!!

12.) I’m Grateful for: The kindness of a stranger- When the person in front of you at the grocery store lets you go ahead in line because you have fewer items...or when people hold the door for others. I’m thankful that good people are here to remind us of small acts of kindness!

13.) I’m Grateful for: Having food on the table. Something so simple as your favorite snack in the fridge is a blessing not many can enjoy!

14.) I’m Grateful for: Social media, which, for all its drawbacks, makes it possible for me to keep in touch with friends I would not otherwise.

15.) I’m Grateful for: YOU!!! I am beyond grateful to YOU, my readers. Every day I get kind and supportive emails and messages from people all around the world that I have never met but who read & enjoy my blog! Without you, my blog, this place that I cherish, into which I pour my time and my heart, and that enables me to do what I love everyday could not exist as it does without your support. Whether this is your first time on my website or your 100th, I am sincerely grateful that you are here. Thank-you!!! Your expressions of gratitude make my life happier and help me when things feel tough.

I could go on & on about all of life’s simple pleasures to be grateful for like, a beautiful sunset, an outside dinner, a glass of moscato, baby pink roses, when avocados are on sale, fuzzy socks, google maps, shopping trips with your bestie, bonfires, surprise phone calls from old friends, candles that make our house feel and smell cozy, fresh manicures, turning on the radio and hearing your favorite song, road trips, fluffy bath towels, shooting stars and every girls two favorite words FREE SHIPPING!

I encourage all of you to write a list of things every time you feel overwhelmed about daily struggles and see how fast your day and mood will get better..because when you stop and take a look around your life and this world is pretty amazing!

    With love–Patricia

    My Current Winter Skin Routine

Winter is approaching us here in Texas and I couldn’t be more excited…it’s my favorite time of the year because of all the family time spent on the upcoming holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas!! I also feel like I become more social in the winter and with that being said I really want to look and feel my best! I’ve put together all my favorite winter beauty products that I’ll be using throughout these colder months to keep my skin healthy, hydrated and glowing! It’s super important to keep a separate skin care routine for these colder months ahead of us…what typically works in the summer necessarily won’t cut it in the winter burrs’ I hope you learn a lot from this beauty post! Enjoy dolls!!!

I recently had the opportunity as a Nordstrom VIP Member to have an all exclusive beauty consultant educator guide me through my Winter Skin advising routine and honestly, it was one of the best things I’ve ever done it really took all of the guess work out of it and was so educational and fun to learn about how our bodies and skin function on different weather climates. There were a couple of key words that really took to me and that was the word WATER and Hydration… who knew that healthy skin can not only be accomplished with some great hydrating products but it’s what you put inside your body that truly counts and that’s Water !!! My number 1 thing to do this winter is to drink lots of water to really stay hydrated from within! Speaking of water…dolls we all love a scorching hot shower…cause it makes us feel squeaky clean, but come on…if you can bring noodles to a boil your shower water is too hot! And thats how you end up looking like a hot No No! Use lukewarm water instead to shower and wash your face. Hot showers dry out your skin more quickly & if you do not moisturize it immediately, your skin can develop cracks & winter eczema.

The best moisturizer components to look for in your winter Skincare are products that contain Hyaluronic Acid & Ceramides, which plump skin to fight dryness and are great ingredients for acne prone skin to help aid in keeping your skin clean, clear and hydrated and help to avoid stripping your skin of its natural moisture Barrier. Also, natural oils like Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Calendula Oil, Prickly Pear Seed Oil & Cottonseed Oil are all great ingredients to keep skin healthy and hydrated…But the best ingredients to cure dry skin are Shea butter and Aloe Vera!

Now that we’ve covered the best hydrating skincare components to look for in your products, I really want to focus on the best gentle cleanser’s for your winter skin care routine. It’s best to avoid all foam cleaners’ in the winter… as they can cause irritation and unnecessarily strip good oil’s away from your skin. Go for gel or oil cleansers that will clean your face gently. Also it’s best to exfoliate once a week as it helps in boosting skin regeneration & better product absorption.

Aaaahhh…now that I’ve given you a basic skincare intro it’s time to indulge in the fun stuff! I really wanted to focus on my facial skincare and that’s where I truly chose to splurge a bit…I tried to keep everything as affordable as possible and as conveniently available as possible at drugstores and Nordstrom!

If your anything like me, then you know the struggle is real when it comes to candid photos…you want to know what’s worse than a candid photo… one where your perceived as conceded cause your taking a selfie of yourself ooooohh soooo candidly caught by your brother…and let’s face it I’m the only one who knows my best angles and truly knows what filters to choose…but I really appreciate this photo because it really shows my hair progress and its filter free cause come on boys don’t filter nothing cause they ain’t got time for that! LOL

I’m currently using: Hask Cactus Water Weightless Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner, I’ve never tried Cactus Water based products just because I’ve always been a huge fan of coconut water based products but I’m really loving this product and what sold me on it was that it contained prickly pear seed oil!

You can purchase at: Walgreens for $7 each

Typically I use a hair mask once or twice a week or more especially, If I notice my hair feels a little more dry and coarse or if I have been styling it more frequently I will use a super hydrating hair mask! One of my favorites is the Hi-PRO-Pac Intense Protein Treatment infused with nourishing Shea butter!

You can purchase at: H-E-B for $8

While my conditioner is in my hair I will use the 5 minutes to exfoliate my body now the best routine for winter is to exfoliate once a week and to use a gentle moisturizing exfoliator like Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub! I personally love all the scrubs from this line but my all time favorite is the Moroccan Rose scented one!!

You can purchase at: Walmart for $7

If I’m not exfoliating my skin then I will use my Dial Coconut Water Gel Hydrating Body wash.

You can purchase at: Walmart for $5

After showering I will use the Hask Cactus Water 5 in 1 leave in spray conditioner this product is amazing it leaves my hair feeling super light weight, soft, looking shiny and with loads of volume!

You can purchase at: Walgreens for $8

For some added moisture because normally I will add heat by blow drying or styling my hair with hot tools… I will also put Garnier whole blends coconut oil & coconut butter leave in conditioner

You can purchase at: Walgreens for $9

Also for some added weightless moisture and shine I will follow up with Maui Moisture Nourishing Coconut Milk

You can purchase at: Walgreens for $7

After showering I immediately follow up with my moisturizer and honestly it’s pretty low key because Gold Bond Ultimate Skin Therapy Lotion truly covers it all with 7 essential moisturizer components! I love how it’s non greasy formulated and that it contains Shea butter and my favorite coconut oil & butter!

You can purchase at: Walgreens for $10

Now for those extra dry areas like elbows, hands, knees, feet and dry patches I love using Farm House Fresh Plum Chiffon All Purpose Shea Butter!! Omgeee this product is bomb no lie it truly is a nice all purpose dry skin cure! I also love using this on my lips, it’s really helped to keep them from chapping!

You can purchase: online at https://www.farmhousefreshgoods.com/plum-chiffon-balm.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0pjooomi3gIVTLjACh2v4g4DEAQYBCABEgJfLfD_BwE for $13

Moving on to my Facial Winter Skin Routine the area where I was most concerned about because let’s face it.. it’s where our eyes feast and have our first human interaction… I really wanted to keep it simple since I’m somewhat always on the go so I really didn’t have a lot of time to focus on this especially in the mornings which I told my beauty consultant and she was happy to hear that since she recommended that the best time to hydrate your skin is during your sleeping hours at night so she promised to keep it a three step morning process for me for my busier hectic mornings and I couldn’t be happier!!

For the morning I wash my face with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel with Hyaluronic Acid

You can purchase at: H-E-B $8

I will also exfoliate my facial skin twice a week and I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Exfoliating Cleanser.

You can purchase at: H-E-B for $8

After I’m done cleaning my face I will follow up with my Paula’s Choice Omega Complex Serum! This serum is to die for it’s turned into one of my faves! A little goes a long way!

You can purchase at: Nordstrom for $36

After applying my Serum I will seal all of it in with Mario Badescu Herbal Hydrating Serum before applying any makeup… what this does is lock in all of the nourishing moisture and really create a healthy skin barrier to protect and prevent any damage or harmful skin environments I could encounter or experience throughout my busy day!

You can purchase at: Nordstrom for $30

So that’s my Morning Skincare Routine now on to my Night Skincare Routine…so for night I will remove all my makeup and then repeat with my Neutrogena Hydro Boost Face Gel Wash I will then put on a super Hydrating Facial Sheet mask I try to do this twice a week at night and my favorite is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost 100% Hydrogel mask with Hyaluronic acid this is super cooling and relaxing I love to listen to music and just close my eyes for a bit a reflect on my day or just chill and binge watch some of my favorite shows!!

You can purchase at: H-E-B for $4

Then I will apply A super deep nourishing Facial Oil..the one I’m currently using is Indie Lee Facial Oil

You can purchase at: Nordstrom for $32

Then I’ll follow that up with the Mario Badescu Herbal Sealant Serum to really lock in all the Moisture while I catch some 💤💤💤!

So there you have it… this is my complete winter skin routine. I hope it has been really informative and a beneficial learning experience! Please let me know down in the comments what your favorite winter skin care products are to battle this dry winter weather! Being the beauty junkie that I am, I would love to try some of your favorite products as well!

Thanks soooo much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post!

    Top 6 Beauty Favorites | May 2017

It’s been a while since I last blogged so I thought a beauty favorites for the month of May would be nice! I have tested some great products that I really want to share with you! Something for skin, hair and lips so enjoy!

First on my list of “can’t live without” for the month of May is…Mario Badescu facial spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater. Like you should drink a tall glass of water multiple times a day, your skin also needs a drink! This liquid is not only super hydrating but also calming for the skin. I love the way it feels and smells! Perfect for they dry climates in Texas!

    NORDSTROM-$7

I love wearing matte lip paints but hate that they are super drying to your lips! But thanks to the new Tarte Lip Facial scrub I now have a solution to my problem… This easy to use pencil features a two-in-one lip scrub that sloughs away dead surface cells, allowing moisturizing ingredients to penetrate deeply. The raw sugar acts as a natural exfoliator, gently rolling over surface imperfections to polish and improve lip texture. What’s great about this antiaging formula is that it can be worn as a treatment or to prep lips for a lipstick application to deliver your perfect plumped up pout!

    SEPHORA-$16

A good stay all day liquid lipstick is like a drug to me! I have several and every time a new one is launched I have to check it out! I am currently obsessing over this creamy glossy perfection by Stila!

SEPHORA-Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the color|Patina| $24

The last thing I have for facial care are these amazingly soft ever popular Unicorn Brush Set by Tarte! I am in love with how precise these brushes are and was so happy to snag them for myself!

SEPHORA- $39 for set of (5)

Moving on to hair…when it comes to my preference in hairstyles I love a gorgeous, volumized, messy bed head hairstyle…and Triple Sec by Drybar is the perfect product for messy imperfect hairstyles! Not only is this a dry texture spray but it also refreshes your hair like dry shampoo but without all the chalky toxins that strip volume from your hair…and who does not want voluminous, textured tousled hair?!

    NORDSTROM- $26

I saved the best for the last cause I’m a smell good all the time type of gal and I have to say I’ll be spritzing this Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande Parfum all day every day for summer! It’s so airy and light perfect for summer!
